What's it all About

Ride Allegheny is a 4 day, 317.5 mile bike trip through some of the most scenic back country in the Eastern United States. The ride begins Thursday, October 2 in Pittsburgh, PA, and ends in Gaithersburg, MD, on Sunday, October 5th. Each day the bikers will ride approximately 82 miles and spend entertaining nights in historic towns along The Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Canal Towpath.

These two trails will follow the path of abandoned railroads and traverse along side the C&O Canal, first used by early Americans to transport goods to port via mule-driven barges. At the end of each day's ride, the bikers will dine and relax in some of the most unique taverns and inns in Pennsylvania and Maryland. The cyclists will then bed down at a local bed and breakfast and experience true mountain hospitality.

This year is our 8th anniversary and over the last 3 years our small group of eccentric friends have raised over $85,000 for the men and women of our armed forces rehabilitating at Walter Reed Hospital and National Naval Medical Center. Once again this year we are dedicating our ride to Operation Second Chance and your sweat equity in joining the ride to help raise funds or any financial contribution would be deeply appreciated.
